During the past year I have ordered and purchased three hand-made Mason’s Gavel and Blocks in English Wild Cherry which have been individually personalised to order with a polished jeweller’s brass plaque. On Tommy Woodpecker’s website they are described as “Designed and made by me in Shropshire and not mass produced; each of my gavels is slightly different and unique, high quality, beautifully and lovingly finished with beeswax polish so the natural colour of the wood can speak for itself” The three hand-made gavels and blocks which I ordered were of superb quality and testament to Tommy’s skills as a craftsman. They were presented to three friends in the Masonic world, all of whom were truly amazed at the unique quality of the gavels and blocks and they now hold pride of place in three masonic lodges in three Provinces in the country. A few weeks ago I needed to find a gavel for a board on which I serve. After a quick look on the Internet I found Tommy Woodpecker Woodworks and liked what I saw. While I soon discovered that Tommy lives in England, I decided to contact him anyway even though I live in the United States. I have not been disappointed. Tommy was very easy to work with through email and I soon received an elegant, effective, and hand made wooden gavel on my doorstep in Exeter, New Hampshire. I highly recommend Tommy and his craftsmanship, even to those who live on other continents.
