Medium Weight Carving Mallet Old 1950’s Lignum Vitae Xylia Handle

A handmade gorgeous very unique, medium weight solid carver’s mallet in old lignum vitae wood with handle in gorgeously grained Xylia. This has been made from a bowling ball from 1950’s so it has a unique history. Beautiful, smooth to the touch and full of character.  Great to add to your set of mallets from me. Ergonomically designed to be a great fit in the hand. This one has a one knotty minor visible check or and one other visible check, checks are very usual for old lignum of this age, but these do not detract from its strength or beauty when they are there.
The handles goes right through to the end of the ball and are wedged for extra strength.
Designed and made by me in Shropshire and not mass produced. Each of my wood carver’s mallets is of course, slightly different and unique. Beautifully and lovingly finished with wax so the natural colour of the wood can speak for itself. Made by someone who carves and has done stone masonry so really knows the requirements of their tools.  An ideal gift for anyone who loves the unique richness and quality of the grain and colours of natural wood with a wow factor.  A lot of work goes into making the mallets. The price of vintage lignum vitae has sky rocketed.
Size
Medium weight-  205mm or 8 and 1/8th inches tall and 839gs or 1 lb 13 and 1/2 ozs in weight. Good medium size mallet. A great weight for a long use and for more detailed work. Sizing isn’t an exact science I go by the size of the ball as well as the weight.
Care Instructions
Best kept out of direct sunlight. Dust and polish occasionally with beeswax to be rewarded with a deep shine.  All natural unstained woods darken slightly with age.
