Heavyweight Carving Mallet Old Lignum Vitae Purpleheart Handle

A handmade gorgeous very unique, heavyweight solid carver’s mallet in old lignum vitae wood with a Purpleheart handle. This has been made from a bowling ball from the 1952 so it has a unique history. Beautiful, smooth to the touch and full of character.  Great start to a set of mallets from me. Ergonomically designed to be a great fit in the hand. This one has one tiny visible check, checks are usual for old lignum of this age, but when they are there, they are normal and do not detract from its strength. Great tool of a lifetime.
The price of old lignum has sky rocketed. Prices of my mallets vary taking into consideration the condition of the ball as well as the size of course.
The handle goes right through to the end of the ball and is wedged for extra strength.
Designed and made by me in Shropshire and not mass produced. Each of my wood carver’s mallets is of course, slightly different and unique.
Beautifully and lovingly finished with wax so the natural colour of the wood can speak for itself. Made by someone who carves and has done stone masonry so really knows the requirements of their tools.  An ideal gift for anyone who loves the unique richness and quality of the grain and colours of natural wood with a wow factor.  A lot of work goes into making the mallets.

Heavyweight 210 mm or 8 and 1/4 inches tall and 967 gs or 2 lb 2 and 1/4 ozs in weight.
Care Instructions
Best kept out of direct sunlight. Dust and polish occasionally with beeswax to be rewarded with a deep shine.  All natural unstained woods darken slightly with age.
